Our Association
The Alumni Association of The University of Peradeniya – New Zealand Chapter was incorporated in February 2009 under Incorporated Societies Act 1908 and re-registered under Incorporated Societies Act 2022. The Founder president Dr Sydney Fernando together with some of the alumni at the time felt the need for such an organisation and hence, the association was formed.
The Association is also registered as a charity with the Charities Services under Registration Number CC53604 on 10 June 2016.
Note: The Association is not an IRD approved Donee Organization, i.e. any donations made to the organization do not qualify for rebate claims on such donations. An application with the IRD is currently in progress.


Our Purpose
The purpose of the association is to encourage, foster and promote close relations between the University of Peradeniya and its alumni and among the alumni themselves
Our Projects
During its existence, the Association has contributed towards many projects run by the university. This has helped many faculties in the university and its students. The most recent of these projects was to help thirty three students across several faculties in the university to obtain part time work within the university enabling them to derive an income to help support their education.

Our Alma Mater
The university of Peradeniya is a public university funded by the government. It is the largest university in Sri Lanka, which was originally established as the University of Ceylon in 1942 and officially opened in 1954 in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.





Our Committee
The Executive Committee shall comprise of all the Office bearers and a maximum of eight committee members elected from among the members. The immediate Past President is also an ex-officio member of the Executive Committee.
